Surgical Services at Chiquita Animal Hospital
We perform surgeries Monday-Friday at Chiquita Animal Hospital. Just some of the surgical procedures for pets that we perform include:
- Dental cleaning and extractions
- Mass Removal
- Wound Repair
We have a complete soft tissue and complete orthopedic surgical suite with the most cutting edge equipment for monitoring vital signs, maintaining body temperature, and maintaining a safe, sterile environment while your pet is under anesthesia.
However, we are most proud of our surgical staff and their level of care and concern for their patients. Even though there is consistent monitoring of patients with surgical equipment, our trained technicians never leave the patient’s side from the time the time the surgery begins until the pet has woken and recovered from anesthesia.
Our trained veterinary surgeons most commonly perform spays and neuters. We also perform more complicated procedures such as removal of spleens, liver lobes, bladder surgeries, mass removals from various locations as well as other soft tissue procedures. Dr. Kacoyanis is ASIF certified in bone plating and certified in Slocum TLPO procedure. Dr. Kacoyanis also performs corrective osteotomies and fracture repairs.
All of our surgery patients receive pain medication to help them remain comfortable as they recover from surgery. They will also receive a complimentary nail trim while they are here for surgical procedures.
What to Expect
Most routine surgical procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, and you may take your pet home the same day. However, some procedures require an overnight stay so that we can monitor your pet’s recovery.
On most days, the doctor performing surgery will set their surgical schedule that day, once all of the cases are admitted. As a result, it is difficult to tell when your pet's surgical procedure will be performed during the day.
However, when the surgery is complete, a member of our staff will call you to provide an update and let you know what time you can pick up your pet. We’ll make sure you have all the instructions you need for your pet to make a full recovery!
